Dominic C. Moceri, PhD
Child, adolescent and adult psychotherapy and assessment. Areas of specialization include Anxiety Disorders, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Tourette Syndrome (i.e., Tourette’s Disorder), Other Persistent (Chronic) Tic Disorders, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), and Intermittent Explosive Disorder. Psychological and psychoeducational testing to determine ADHD, academic functioning, IQ, and learning disabilities. Cognitive-behavioral orientation.
I work with children, adolescents and adults using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help relieve psychological symptoms like anxiety, depression, moodiness, fears and panic. I have developed a deep passion for using exposure and response prevention (ERP) and habit reversal training (HRT) to treat patients with OCD, anxiety disorders, and tic disorders. My specialization within anxiety disorders includes social anxiety disorder (aka social phobia), selective mutism, panic disorder, hoarding disorder, and misophonia (negative emotions triggered by specific sounds). In addition to ERP and HRT, I also use behavioral activation, motivational interviewing, parent management training, and social skills training to help patients with a wide variety of difficulties. With all of these approaches, I work collaboratively with my patients to create a stepwise plan that brings them closer to their individual and cultural values.
I am experienced in cognitive and academic testing for school-aged children through older adults. Using psychological testing, I am able to diagnose emotional and behavioral disorders, learning disabilities, intellectual deficits, and giftedness.
