Extraordinary Times 17: When is the Right Time to Seek Therapy?

Basic needs often take priority; food, rent, work.  Many view therapy as a “luxury” and not an essential. If you are feeling so overwhelmed with stress, anxiety, fear or depression for at least one solid week, and you feel unable to cope or reduce your symptoms with self-help techniques, it may be time to reach out to a professional.

We do not want to keep too much emotional turmoil inside for too long.  This can create longer term psychological problems that become more difficult to treat later.  Talking about your feelings and learning how to keep a more balanced perspective and mood may help prevent more serious problems with others in the home, problems at work, and personal struggles in the future.
