COVID’s Impact on Kids with Autism & How Parents Can Help – BMC on Bankrate.com

Dr. Jennifer Hanawalt, therapist at the Birmingham Maple Clinic, was recently featured on Bankrate.com to discuss the pandemic’s impact on children with autism, who may experience added confusion, anxiety, and fear with the new way of life.  A recent survey of parents with autistic children found that COVID-19 has created challenges for over 93% of families. Dr. Hanawalt explains that:

“The pandemic has significantly limited the support network, community resources, daily activities, therapeutic resources and social and educational opportunities available to many individuals and families living with autism.”
