Extraordinary Times 7: Difficult Decisions With Older Relatives

Families need to plan in advance so that if there is an emergency with an older relative who becomes symptomatic, the family knows how to proceed.

  • How will we handle a situation if our parent/grandparent becomes very sick?
  • Who will go to the house of the older relative to help?
  • What protective gear should we have available to us?
  • At what point do we need to ask for outside help?

These are just some of the issues that should be discussed with the entire family, including the older relatives, to come to a family agreement on steps to take in the event of a medical emergency.
