Extraordinary Times 2: Basic Priorities During the Coronavirus Shutdown

In the midst of the Coronavirus shutdown, we are bombarded with lots of news, information, and misinformation. For both your physical health, as well as managing your mental health, it’s important to get your basic priorities straight first

Priority #1: TAKE CARE OF THE BASICS

Make sure that you are taking care of the suggested safety precautions of social distancing, hand washing, vigilance about letting outsiders or packages into the house using safety precautions.

Have enough food in the house to last a minimum of two weeks to avoid frequent trips to the grocery store.

Priority #2: TAKING TIME FOR YOURSELF

Go outside 1-2 times each day for at least 10 minutes for exercise or just for fresh air.

Use anxiety reduction breathing exercises to reduce stress; 1-2 times each day for a minimum of 3-5 minutes at a time. (Many examples are available on YouTube and through Google)

While you need to do what you can to take care of yourself, so does every member of your family. Some “alone time” to slow down and decompress is essential.
