Dan O’Neil of Birmingham Maple Clinic provided a workshop for BMC staff on sex addiction. The workshop covered the different models of addiction while also exploring the neuro-biological stages of addiction. Approximately 3-6% of Americans suffer from sex addiction.
Mr. O’Neil also discussed the importance of “the 3 circles” and provided staff with a better knowledge of boundary setting when working with addictions. He covered in detail the “3 C’s of addiction; control, compulsion, and consequences”. Having knowledge about sex addiction is extremely important when staff is working with individuals or family members effected.
